hyoni kang

i think i may be the only person in the whole world to think this.. but the first thing i noticed when i saw this dkny autumn ad was asian model hyoni. and yes i do realise she's not the centre piece of this campaign.. in fact, she's in the background, almost fading away really.
maybe it's because i'm being biased, but maybe it's also the fact that growing up, i always wanted a glimpse of my own race in the many vogues and elles i pored over... just so i can know that asians are beautiful too.
it was 2008 when hyoni won the ford supermodel of the world competition; the first eastern asian to have done so. surely there were asian models before hyoni arrived on the scene? from a more positive perspective, i hope this is a sign where i can expect more asian models to have super-supermodel status and make a mark in our fashion world. because it is so so good to see hyoni and other asian models gracing alongside western models in catwalks, campaigns and the likes. or maybe i should subscribe to korean or japanese vogue where they feature more asian models! that is.. if they do international shipping! haha :)
personally, i think it's quite refreshing and eye catching to see asian models behind the glossy papers.
but i'm no professional. this is just my opinion :)
other than the fact that hyoni is an asian, i love her style; on and off duty. i'm inspired by her effortless and edgy looks which is exactly what i want to achieve in my outfits. plus, in many of her campaigns she is smiley and portrays this adorable cute personality of hers! <3 hyoni.

a beautiful, wonderful place

earlier this summer i went to greece with my girlfriends and i wanted to share some pictures with you, simply because it is such a beautiful, wonderful place! it was a great holiday; a special treat to ourselves for finishing university and to have a last memorable trip together! :)
isn't that the cutest scooter ever? i seriously thought about getting one back at home but then remembered that it always rained here!

thrifted bowlers hat, men's shirt

another sunday, another blog! i'm not sure if i'm meant to be writing my blog like this... but it's fun right way or wrong way so i hope it's okay! :)
i don't know why, but sometimes i love wearing men's clothing; shirts, tshirts and cardigans are the best! i like rolling up long sleeves of my cardigans and tucking my big tshirts into my shorts and skirts! then accessorising with pretty jewelery and bows in my hair, or in this case a hat! :)

friday nights+fireworks

h&m dress, prada bag
last night i went to a concert at the park, then watched the fireworks by the sea. every friday of the summer there are some fireworks at 10pm here on the beach! they're usually only 15 minutes or so long, but it's always worth going to see them because they really are spectacular! especially as they reflect on the sea i think it's really really beautiful! i might take my diana f+ next week to see if i can capture them at all. so if you're about in bournemouth on fridays definitely go see the fireworks on the beach! :)

summer hobbies

this summer has been really random so far! i'm doing whatever to keep myself busy and occupying myself with this and that hobbies. i've picked up drawing and painting, also i've been looking in thrifted shops for vintage dresses to cut and sew (if necessary!), reading reading reading, and picnics on the beach.
this past week i have been learning and practicing golf; it's so much fun! i think it's all about having a positive attitude and being patient! :) the lessons continue...

i don't know about you, but i am totally in love with playsuits (or rompers). they're so ideal! my black playsuit was my staple clothing all throughout the music festival i attended in pembrey and i accessorised them, in true festival style, with lots of bangles and gladiator sandals! but my purple flower playsuit is my favourite! i've had it for quite a while now and i usually wear it with brogues or loafers!

what piece of clothing can't you live without? :)
